The next meeting of the HRM Consensus Group will be at DDW 2010 in New Orleans.
- Progress with an on-line inter-observer agreement studies on diagnosis and management of oesophageal dysmotility will be be presented and discussed
- Follow up studies integrating multiple repeated water swallows and solid bolus swallows to increase sensitivity of investigation in clinical practice will be considered.
Further meetings will take place at major conferences leading up to a Dedicated Meeting of the HRM Consensus Group is planned for early 2011 at Centro Stefano, Ascona, Switzerland
This final meeting will roll out a new classification system for oesophageal dysmotility and dysfunction for HRM that integrates clinical and pathological aspects of oesophageal physiology.
Based on this classification system, evidence based guidelines for the management of oesophageal symptoms and disease will be produced. These will focus on the treatments available / envisaged to correct specific abnormalities identified on investigation that indicate pathology and symptoms.
The results of this process will be summarized in a major review for publication
